Desperate for Jesus
Yesterday during the prayer time in service, the lyrics “I’m Desperate for You” came to mind. That’s all I prayed, just sang those words in my head.
In today’s world, desperation is an ugly state to be in. Security and confidence are what we display on the outside, no matter how wrecked we feel on the inside. But we are a different breed. Do not forget that we can be real. God knows our thoughts, our desperations (Psalm 139:2).
Sometimes it is when our soul is most ruined that we encounter God the most closely. King David is not afraid to call out to God when he most needs him. We get a glimpse of David’s desperation in Psalm 61:
Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to othe rock that is higher than I, for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy.
What comes of our desperation? A dependence on God. He is our Redeemer, our Rock, our Refuge. Do not be afraid to have a desperation for the Lord this week. We need Him. Seek after Him.
