The Days Run Out Just The Same

Whether I am fully present in the Barbie games, or distracted by the to do’s, the days run out just the same.

Whether I captured it on camera or soaked it into my heart, the days run out just the same.

Whether I was worried about the future or still in the present, the days run out just the same.

Whether I yield to busy-ness or pause to breathe, the days run out just the same.

Whether that sock gets put away or stays in the dryer another day, the days run out just the same.

Whether my fists are tightly clenched around time, or I dance with the changing leaves, the days run out just the same.

Whether I grasp for control or laugh at the time to come, the days run out just the same.

Whether I live with clenched fists or open hands, the days run out just the same,

Today is today, and that is a gift for you, mama.
